‘Time to introduce modern farming ways’

LANGKAWI member of parliament Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has claimed there were no specific efforts by the government to introduce modern farming methods to smallholders. The former prime minister, when debating the 2021 Budget in Dewan Rakyat, said smallholders would not be lifted out of poverty if they continued with traditional farming methods. He said to overcome this, small farms could merge to form one big estate, and be managed by someone experienced in estate farming.
