‘Govt open to calls to improve laws’

THE government conducts occasional studies on existing laws, including the Official Secrets Act, for improvements to be made, the Dewan Rakyat heard yesterday. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan (Pas-Kota Baru) said law enhancements were needed so that the interests of the public, private sector and the government would be balanced. “This is important because there are intentions of legislation once a law is enacted. The government has no problem receiving views from civil societies to make improvements to current laws.”
